Canon City Area Campgrounds

Canon City gets its name from the Royal Gorge, a canyon carved by the powerful Arkansas River. Canon is the Spanish spelling of "canyon." The area offers year round activities such as rafting, bicycling, hiking, golfing, hunting, and horseback riding. Local attractions include the Royal Gorge Bridge -- "the world's highest suspension bridge," Colorado Territorial Prison Museum, and Buckskin Joe's -- a western theme park.
